Post Op Care

Post Op Care/Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic drainage is an important part of the post-operative care. By promoting the movement of lymph fluid through the body, lymphatic drainage can help to reduce swelling, prevent fluid build-up and scar tissue formation. By reducing recovery time, minimizing swelling and preventing fluid build-up, lymphatic drainage massage can help to heal more quickly and with less complications.

Seroma Removal

After surgery, the lymphatic fluid can accumulate in the body, causing swelling and discomfort. Serum removal is a simple and effective way to reduce lymphatic fluid buildup.

The procedure involves draining the lymphatic fluid from the affected area using a needle and syringe.

Suture Removal

The sutures are cut and then removed one at a time. There is minimal to no pain or discomfort associated with suture removal.

Drainage Removal

Jackson-Pratt drainage is a type of drainage fluid that helps to remove fluid from the body after surgery. The drainage tubing is inserted through a small incision in the skin and is placed under the skin to the surgical site.

The drainage fluid is then suctioned out of the body through the tubing. Drain is normally removed when the drainage is less than 30cc over 24 hours.

KT Tape Method

Kinesiology Taping (KT tape) can help to alleviate pain, improve healing of soft tissue and decrease swelling. KT tape is applied postoperative and can be worn for up to 3 days. KT tape is easy to apply and can be done in the first week post-surgery.
